Match Passes. Record linkages are performed through a series of match passes. Each pass finds and tests candidate record pairs that agree exactly on one or more fields, the Join Fields. Of course, some true pairs will be missing in any pass because of missing or incorrect data. Consequently, multiple passes are required for a compete linkage. Each pass should test some new candidates compared to other passes.
